Kevin sat up, not feeling any more changes happening. He grabbed the granite countertop and pulled himself up onto his feet. He looked at himself in the mirror and was startled by the changes his body had gone through. His body was now covered in a light coat of dark hair, his arms and torso were rippling in muscles, and his eyes were slightly yellow. Feeling something moving behind him, he turned and saw his tail wagging back and forth. He knew that he had to get back home before someone could see him like this. He saw an open window and jumped through it, starting his run back to his house.

Joe looked at Kevin’s bags and then at his watch, it had been over twenty minutes since Kevin abruptly dashed for the bathroom, and he knew it would be wrong as a friend to leave his friend’s stuff here to be stolen while he looked for him. Although I said I was helping him train when we went to the beach, I absolutely have no idea what’s going on with Kev’ at all. Could it be that puberty is finally starting to kick in for him or something? I mean, maybe it had an effect on him to make him do something weird like work out while he sleeps maybe? mmm... that’s not likely.  Okay, I guess I’d better go look for him...

Kevin pulled his key out of his pocket and opened the front door of his house. I’m glad my shorts didn’t rip off in the bathroom or I wouldn’t have been able to get back inside. He closed the door and walked to his room, the claws on his feet clicking on the tiled floor as he walked. He flopped down onto his bed, exhausted from running all the way back home. His phone vibrated in his pocket and, looking at the screen, he saw that Joseph had texted him.

Joseph lugged Kevin’s bags around thinking of where Kevin would go. He then realized: Oh yeah! He still has his cell on him, right? He soon smacked his forehead lightly and thought: Duh! He followed that thought by grabbing his phone out of his pocket, Texting to Kevin:

“Hey dude! where r u? you forgot all the clothes that we bought!!”  He sent the text, hoping Kevin would see it.

Kevin quickly sent a reply to Joseph, his claws making it a bit hard to type:

“I’m so sorry. I had to run home because something came up. Can you bring my stuff to my house?”

He put his phone on his bed and got up. Remembering that he had been on the floor of a public bathroom he quickly gathered a pair of boxers from his dresser and got into the shower. He took a thorough time scrubbing his body clean of all the germs. Finishing his shower, he stepped out and shook himself dry. He grabbed a towel and dried himself off completely. He put on his clean boxers and cut a hole in them to get his tail through.

He wiped off the steam from the bathroom mirror and was greeted to a reflection of his changed body. He was mesmerized by his altered appearance: his 8-pack abdominal muscles, his newly extended canine teeth that showed slightly behind his top lip, and the hair that grew out from a wide swath of his upper body and legs. He also noticed that the hair was slightly darker than his regular hair color, in fact the hair that was on his body and his natural tone had grown progressively darker.

Joseph was thinking while he was headed back to Kevin’s house; wondering what was going on with him. He knew that a regular human being wouldn’t be able to gain muscles, let alone a 6-pack in one night. What if there’s something really wrong with Kevin? He let out a sigh as soon as he said that. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Joseph. There has to be a logical explanation for what’s happening to him. He had reached Kevin’s house and knocked on the front door.

Kevin was preoccupied with his appearance until he had been snapped back to reality when he heard a knock at the door.  Oh yeah it’s Joseph.  “Coming!” He howled, but he soon covered his mouth. Why the hell did I just howl that?  He rushed back into a pair of shorts, which he also cut a hole in for his tail, and ran to the front door. He opened the door slightly and said: “Come in Joseph... You’re the only one I can trust with this...”

Joseph stepped slowly into the doorway as he noticed Kevin had moved away from it. Kevin had stuck to the shadows of the door as Joseph walked in with Kevin’s bags. He stopped on the doormat and kicked off his shoes, since his hands were full, toward the coat hangers to his left. “Okay, Kevin. Why are you being so secretive?” Kevin stepped out of the shadows so that Joseph could see him. He looked up, and smiled sheepishly at Joseph, his fangs showing. “Uh, I changed again,” Kevin said.

Joseph was aghast at the changes his friend had gone through, although the emotion that he felt most was jealousy. He looked at his friend who, just the day before, had been a twig of a person. Today, however, he was showing off his huge biceps, a well defined chest, and an 8-pack. This was the look that Joseph had been trying to get for the past year, with no accomplishment, and his friend had achieved it in a few hours with no work. He hid his jealousy and walked closer to Kevin, who was now a few inches taller than him.

“I mean what is going on with you man? Is puberty hitting you hard or something?“
Kevin looked down, an almost ashamed look on his face.  “No I don’t think so... plus I have this too...” He swung his tail out for Joe to see.

“WHAT THE HELL, MAN?! A tail? oh man... you look like you belong in a horror movie or something... I mean you look like you’re turning into a werewolf or something like that.“

Really?” Kevin said with disbelief.

“Well that’s what it looks like to me... I mean the tail looks like a wolf’s and the canines look like their growing I mean that’s why the dogs are called ‘Canines’ and sometimes I can’t believe I’m schooling you in something that you should already know I mean you’re a nerd and nerds always get high marks...” Joseph said, following up with a semi-long breath.

"I'm more of a sci-fi nerd. I don't know all that much about fantasy or horror," Kevin said trying to back himself up.
“Oh I see... was it because you were scared of certain things as a little kid?” Joseph said jokingly.
Kevin punched Joseph on the shoulder, “Oh shut up, Joseph.” Joseph recoiled from the punch.
“Ouch, that hurt!” Joseph said in pain.
“I guess you know how it feels now,” Kevin responded.

“Don’t rub it in just because you have more bulk than I do, okay?” Joe said with a scowl. He could feel his feelings rising within himself as he looked at Kevin. He was becoming the hunk Joseph always wanted to be. And he still didn’t understand why. In comparison, Joe was starting to look like Kevin was before his big ‘Growth spurt’.

"Shouldn't you put a shirt on Kevin," Joseph said tired of staring at his friend's new body.
"Yeah, I guess so," Kevin replied, "but none of my clothes fit me anymore."
"We did just buy some new clothes, why don't you put on one of the shirts?"
"Oh yeah! Give me the bags."

Kevin took the bags from Joseph and ran into his room. Rummaging through them, he found a grey sleeveless shirt and pulled it on. He rejoined Joseph who was now sitting on the couch in the living room.

“Well at least it fits...” Kevin said, looking down at his form. It was a little tight around the chest but it looked good on his body. His massive pecs and 8-pack were clearly visible through the fabric.

Joseph looked at Kevin again, the gleam of jealousy was still apparent in his eyes. Despite the tail and hair on his upper body, he looks like he could be one of those bodybuilders on those videos my mom always watches and works out to...

Kevin sat down next to Joseph, not noticing the envy that his friend was keeping inside him. He turned to Joseph and asked, "Well, what do you want to do now?" Joseph looked at his watch and turned to Kevin.
"Well," he said, "I have to be at work in a few minutes. I might as well go home and get ready for that."
"Oh...okay then," Kevin replied as his friend stood up to leave. He walked Joseph to the door.
"Hey," Joseph said, turning back to Kevin, "I hope you can figure out what's going on with your body."

As Joseph departed, Kevin began thinking as he walked back to the couch. Well this has only been happening recently...So could it be something I ate maybe? Is it causing some kind of mutation that only I have? No... If that was true my parents would’ve told me right? Wait... His mind drifted back to the camping trip a month prior and that attack.

So does this prove that werewolves are real? That seems to be the most logical idea because I have a wolf’s tail and my teeth are growing bigger and I have a feeling that in the next few days, something is going to happen. Something BIG.

Standing in the living room, Kevin began to smell something he’d never smelled before. He walked in the direction of the smell that was emanating from the kitchen. His nose led him to the freezer, where the smell was the strongest. He opened it and his eyes darted towards the one package of steak. He pulled it out and sniffed the package, his mouth salivating from the aroma it expelled.

Kevin looked at the untouched package of steak... he could see frost forming at the edges and he knew that he would have to wait until it thawed out because he knew that cold meat was never tasty. He removed the wrapping of the package with his claws and left the meat on a plate he fetched from the cupboard.

He took off back to his room for a few minutes to admire himself some more. This time he looked into the mirror, down at his feet, and then back to his body and flexed his arms. Holy cow... just look at these things! His self-admiration was cut short after half an hour because he smelled the scent of steak growing stronger. It must be thawed... I guess I have to go cook it now.

He ran back to the kitchen, saw that the the frost from the edges of the steak was gone now, and pulled out a pan to cook it in. He remembered how his dad had made steak and grabbed the spices: seasoning salt, lemon pepper, and paprika. He just spread the toppings on the meat and rubbed them into it with his giant hands. Then he caught the smell of the meat in combination with the spices and his mouth started watering.

His tongue dropped out of his mouth and before any sense came to him, he took a large bite out of the freshly seasoned piece of cow. He took another bite and another... but the steak was already gone after 3 more bites. More... more... where is more?!

He then remembered that Joseph and his dad ate a lot of protein in order to keep their muscular builds. Joseph has to have some meat at his house! He licked his lips as he looked at the clock. Ugh. Joseph’s still at work! His stomach growled loudly, begging for more meat. I’ll just sneak into his house and then back out. He’ll never even know I was there.

Kevin ran to the front door and walked outside, closing the door behind him. Instincts coming over him, he dropped down onto all fours and ran over to Joseph’s house. Sitting in the shadows, hoping no one would see him, he began to plan his entrance. Spotting an open window on the second floor, he decided that he would enter the house there.

Kevin looked around, searching for any wandering people in the vicinity. The neighborhood was clear. He backed up so that he would have a running start and be able to reach the window. He began trotting and then started running, picking up speed as the muscles in his arms and legs propelled his body forward. The muscles in his legs launched him upward as he jumped towards the open window. He grabbed a hold of the ledge and his claws scraped the brick as he pulled himself inside.

He looked around and noticed that he was standing in Joseph's room. Hmmm it must be because he’s so warm under the covers that he needs the night air to cool down... It’s pretty typical of people during the summer... He caught the smell of meat coming from downstairs and rushed on all fours toward the smell of preserved muscle and sinew. Opening the freezer, he fetched the largest sirloin but saw that it was more frozen than the one he just ate. It must’ve been in the freezer for at least a month. I can’t wait for this one to thaw... gotta pick something else...

He sniffed around in the freezer trying to find the least frozen yet also bloodiest cut he could. His nose settled on a tenderloin that was hidden behind a few other cuts of meat. He pulled it out and laid it on a plate he took from the cupboard. Slicing open the packaging with his claws, he saw that, although it was not as frozen as the sirloin, he would still have to wait for the tenderloin to thaw out a bit.

Kevin left the meat on the counter to thaw and decided to wait in the shadows of the darkened living room behind the couch. He did so, returning to his regular bipedal walking style and took position, crouching behind the couch, looking towards the door, hoping someone wouldn’t step through it. After another half hour of waiting, he smelled the meat and grabbed the tenderloin. He just gobbled it right up, put the plate in the sink, and dashed back up to Joe’s room. He jumped right out the window and landed on the grass.

Kevin ran back to his house, and as soon as he closed the front door he heard a car pulling into Joseph’s driveway. Whew! I just barely missed getting caught. Turning away from the door, he rubbed his now full stomach as he headed to his room. He licked his lips, cleaning off the remaining blood, and his tail wagged happily. I wonder why I’m having these weird cravings. Is this what happens to people becoming werewolves? Kevin sighed. Well, I wonder what crazy things are going to happen tomorrow... He pulled off his shirt and removed his shorts, leaving him in his boxers as he got ready to get into bed. He brushed his teeth and came back into his room.

Glancing over at his mirror one last time before going to bed, he looked at his body and flexed his biceps. Crawling under the covers he had one last thought before drifting off to sleep that brought a smile on his face. Being a werewolf might not be all bad.

Phase 3, morning of the full moon.

Kevin was jarred awake from his fitful sleep. He turned to look at his clock that read: 5 A.M. “Why do I feel so sick? Ugh...It must have been that raw meat I ate yesterday.” He got up from his bed and walked a few steps toward his door when he collapsed to the floor. “Why do I feel so terrible?” He felt a sharp pain ripple through his body, and he understood what was happening. “I’m changing again!” The cartilage of his ears morphed as they grew longer. He could hear the bones in his skull shifting as his ears moved further up his head. Looking down at his hands and feet, he could see his sharp nails grow into even longer claws. The same thing happened to his canines as they lengthened, his top teeth now protruding slightly over his lower lip.

Kevin screamed in agony as the changes occurred all over his body. He could feel the hair that extended across his shoulders branch down his arms toward the elbows and his tail growing longer, although only by a couple or so inches. He screamed again as his mouth and nose crashed outward, forming a short muzzle. But this scream seemed to turn more into a howl than the last. “AGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHAAAAROOOOO!!!!!”. He could also feel his body growing larger and larger, both in length of limbs and height. He was once only 5’6 but his newly extended limbs gave him 2 inches over that on all fours, and he rose in height by over a foot. He soon fell onto his hands and knees.

Is it over? I feel so different...

The transformation was only halfway through, and Kevin could feel even more changes taking place. His feet began to throb and he felt them extend a bit, but not yet become paws. The most painful part was next as Kevin’s muscles began to become more firm and defined. His leg muscles grew outward and were too much for Kevin’s boxers that they ripped right off his legs. He had no time to notice, however, as the itchy feeling of more hair growing raced across his lower body.

He watched, dumbfounded, as thick, dark hair began growing on his legs and covered up his groin. He could feel the hair on his head also lengthen and his cheeks began to itch, signifying that he was growing a beard. He put his hands to his face, amazed that in only a few seconds he had a full stubble where there had been none before. The stubble on his cheeks raced down toward his neck and began to grow there, too. In a couple of minutes, Kevin was sporting a short beard that ran down his neck.

Kevin blinked and from one moment to the next, his room went from being covered in shadows to being visible only by the light of the moon as his eyes became completely yellow. Kevin let out a howl, too human to be considered a wolf’s but with an added effect that only an animal could make. Kevin’s mind began to fill with instincts and his stomach growled, empty after the transformation. Let’s see what there is to eat! He jumped through his open window, an idea he had borrowed from Joseph, and landed on all fours in his backyard, searching for something to feed his hunger.
His ears detected it, but his nose confirmed it, he heard a simple ‘Chit Chit’ sound coming from the oak right behind him. He just stood and waited with his back turned then slowly turned around as he spotted the male squirrel dashing toward the base of the tree. In a few seconds, it was over. The squirrel was dead between his canines. He tore at the small animal, digging his fangs into the tender flesh, although the hair in his mouth was getting annoying he just spit it out.

Kevin licked the bones clean of any and all edible meat and dug a hole in the corner of his backyard to bury the carcass. Sitting like a real wolf on his haunches, Kevin closed his eyes and turned his head upwards, taking in the scents of the outside air. He opened his eyes and could see the early morning sunrise coming over the horizon, signifying the start of a new day. He stood up on all fours, and began trotting back over to his window to get back into his room.

Just then, his ears perked up at the sound of dog tags coming from his front lawn. His territorial instincts began to kick in and he ran towards the front lawn, teeth bared and a growl escaping from his throat. He reached the front lawn and met eye to eye with the perpetrator, one of his neighbor’s pets. Without warning, Kevin began to bark at the dog, scaring it off of his property. Kevin knew that he had to keep unwanted pests off of his territory and did the only thing his mind came up with: he started peeing.

Lifting his leg like a dog, Kevin marked his territory. The odor reached his enhanced nostrils and he breathed in his scent. Knowing that he couldn’t leave any area unmarked he began leaving his scent all over his property. Once done outside, Kevin jumped back into his house and continued the scent marking there. He ran on all fours throughout his house, leaving no room untouched. Coming back into his room, he jumped onto his bed and emptied whatever was left in his bladder there.

Proud of his work, Kevin realized that he had to replenish the fluids that he had just lost. Jumping back onto the floor, he began the walk downstairs to the kitchen when he passed by the bathroom. He stepped back and peered through the doorway. Walking inside, hoping for a drink, he saw the sink and knew he could get water from there, but his eyes darted toward another  source of water in the bathroom. Staring into the toilet, he saw his own reflection, but he didn’t register it at the time. The only thing he was thinking was: Water...water. Without any hesitation, he stuck his face into the toilet and began lapping up the water into his mouth.

Only a few hours had passed as Joseph wondered what had happened last night, there was no real damage besides some claw marks and those were easy to cover up. All that was missing was a tenderloin from the freezer and his Dad had confirmed some odd activity when he got home that night. Well, it could have something to do with Kevin... Maybe I should check on him... He put on his shirt and locked the door behind him as he left, treading next door. He rung the doorbell and was soon greeted with a “Bark Bark!” Oh no... the wolf side has almost claimed Kevin!

Kevin had been startled by the doorbell. Looking down at his body, he noticed for the first time that he had no clothes on. Getting up into a bipedal stance he ran back to his room to get some clothes on. He rummaged through the shopping bags from the day before and picked out a new pair of boxers and a new pair of shorts. He cut out tail holes in each of them and pulled them on.

The door slowly opened when Joseph reached for the knob and he stepped inside carefully.
“Kevin? You okay man?”

“Uh yeah... I think so...” He heard from the shady spot up the stairs.

Joseph returned to a regular pace while walking, and in a happy yet deeply toned voice, Kevin yipped like a puppy and raced down the stairs toward him. He jumped on top of Joseph, knocking him to the carpeted floor. “Whoa Kevin! Back off!” But soon he was stormed with wet doggy kisses.

“Kevin! Control yourself... your wolf instincts are taking over! Don’t let them!”

“O-okay.” He said as he got off.

Joseph wiped the slobber off of his face as he stood up. Kevin was sitting on all fours in front of him, tail wagging and tongue drooping out of his mouth. He let out a loud bark as Joseph looked over his body. How does he keep getting bigger? His friend was wearing only a pair of shorts that now seemed a bit tight on his muscular thighs. Hair covered practically every inch of his muscular body. How could someone go through such drastic changes in a matter of hours?

“So...” Kevin said, trying to lighten the mood, “How was work yesterday?”

“Wait... “ Joseph’s thoughts drifted back to the calendar. It showed a full moon was going to happen tonight! I see now; the transformations begin 2 days prior between the waxing and full moons!  “Kevin... I think you’re going to go full werewolf tonight.”

“What?! No! It can’t happen yet! What should we do?”

“All we can do is sit and wait, because unless we have a silver bullet, we can’t stop you...”
“Why?!”
“Because we don’t have anything to hold you back... Werewolves are very strong in their full transformations...”

“Well then what can we do?”

“Nothing except wait and see what happens...By the way, why does it smell like pee in here?”

Kevin whimpered as he smiled suspiciously at Joseph. “I kind of went overboard with the territorial instincts. You really don’t want to go into my room.”
“Is this how you’re going to act until tomorrow?” Joseph asked, as he threw his arms into the air. “Are you also going to have to use the restroom outside until then, too? If so, I am not cleaning up your mess!”

Kevin laughed out loud, and after a few seconds Joseph started laughing along.

“What if I bring Shasta over? My husky?”

“Mmmm I’m not sure what will happen if he reacts to the scent of wolf on me...”

“Well at least you’ll be outside. You wanna go outside right?”
“Uh honestly... yes I do...“

“Then hide in the shadows in the backyard and I’ll bring Shasta over.”

“Okay.”

Kevin heard Joseph leave as he opened the door to the backyard. He slinked along the shadows as he waited for Joseph to come back. Kevin sighed. I’m getting really tired of hiding in the shadows. I want to run around and play! Waiting, Kevin sat in the shadows, scratching his ears with his feet more than once. He lay down in the grass, not sure when Joseph would be back.

Suddenly, his ears perked up as he heard the sound of footsteps in the house. He raised his head as the door to the backyard opened and Shasta came bounding through, Joseph following behind him.

“Kevin, where are you?” Joseph called. At the sound of Kevin’s name Shasta barked, tail wagging. Shasta had known Kevin since he was adopted by Joseph’s family two years ago. Kevin was a regular at Joseph’s house and had played with Shasta countless times.

“I’m in the backyard!” Kevin yelled. They saw that the porch was open and walked over to it and spotted the transformed Kevin in the shade of some of the bushes to his right.

“Oh there you are!” Joseph said with a smile. He soon let Shasta off his leash and Shasta ran toward Kevin until he could catch the scent of wolf on him, yet he still ran toward him, although at a slower pace now.

Kevin walked on all fours toward Shasta in turn and they circled each other. Although Shasta was about two thirds the height of Kevin, he didn’t seem unfazed. “Shasta... Be nice okay?”

Kevin and Shasta stopped and sniffed each other’s butts. After a few seconds, and without warning, Shasta jumped on Kevin, not in a way of violence but out of recognition of Kevin. He licked Kevin’s cheeks and Kevin returned the greeting. Shasta then got off and barked playfully. Kevin barked back happily and ran in a circle, chasing his tail. Shasta ran around the backyard and Kevin followed close behind. They chased each other and wrestled in the grass like two friendly dogs, nipping and biting at each other playfully.

Joseph watched on as his best friend acted like a real dog. Kevin rolled around in the grass, barked, and chased his dog like they were best friends. What if Kevin and Shasta become best friends and I’m left all alone? Joseph shook his head as he came to his senses. Remember Joseph, this is only until the full moon. Then Kevin will be human again. At least until the next one. Watching his friend running around on all fours he started to smile. It is kind of funny watching him act like a dog. Maybe they’re getting thirsty?

Joseph ran back inside, leaving Kevin and Shasta alone. The two were chasing a squirrel that had climbed down a tree, but lost it when it scurried under the porch. Kevin left the squirrel and went back into the middle of the backyard to lay down. Wow! That was so much fun! Shasta came up to him and lay beside him. Their mouths were open as they panted in unison, tired from their playful chase and from the sunlight that beat down upon them.

Returning with a bowl of water and a bowl of dog food, Joseph whistled to get their attention. “Come on guys! I brought something for you!”

Kevin and Shasta jumped up and ran towards Joseph, who had just placed the bowls on the ground. He stepped back towards the porch as Kevin and Shasta dug through the food and water. Kevin’s stomach was satisfied as he dug his face into the kibble and lapped up the water.

“Hey, Kevin! Leave some food for Shasta, won’t you?!” Joseph yelled.

With a mouth full of kibble Kevin replied, “Oh, sorry!” He swallowed the food in his mouth and trotted over to the bushes. Even though Joseph was kidding about going to the bathroom outside before, I really need to go! Standing behind the bushes, Kevin stripped off his shorts and boxers, lifted his leg, and relieved himself. Ahhh. That's better! Finished with his business, he put his clothes back on and ran back to Joseph, who was sitting on the porch.

He walked up behind him on all fours, spun around three times, and lay next to him placing his head on Joseph’s lap. Thinking it was Shasta, Joseph began petting Kevin’s head and scratching him behind the ears. Oh, that feels good. Kevin thought as his tail began wagging faster. He turned onto his back and Joseph began to scratch his stomach. Feeling the hardened 8-pack Joseph looked down at Kevin whose tongue was hanging out of his mouth and tail was wagging furiously.

“Kevin?! What are you doing?!” Joseph yelled. Kevin got up from his current position, sat on all fours, and dropped his head in shame, letting out a whine as he did so.

“Sorry, Joseph. My wolf side is getting stronger every minute. I couldn’t help it.”

Looking over his friend's body, Joseph couldn't believe he had changed so much. Knowing Kevin as the scrawny nerd for his entire life, it was weird seeing him bulk up and become a mass of muscle. Added to that were also the wolfish features and instincts that threw him for a loop.

Seeing Joseph's solemn face deep in thought, Kevin became worried. He picked up his head and licked Joseph on the cheek, trying to make him feel better. Joseph looked at his friend and smiled. Kevin had always been there to make things better, and he knew he would be there for him even as a werewolf.

Joseph saw his friend’s expression and understood how sorry he was. “Oh, it’s fine,” he said, scratching behind Kevin’s ears one last time. “Just don’t get any of your fur on my clothes, it’s hard enough trying to get Shasta’s out.”

They both let out a hearty laugh.

“Come on, Kevin!” Joseph said, getting up. In his hand he held a tennis ball and Kevin’s wolf mind knew just what was going on. He jumped onto all fours and followed Joseph into the backyard, barking and chasing after him. Shasta had finished eating and tagged along, chasing her owner as he ran around the backyard.

“Okay, Kevin. Fetch!” Joseph threw the ball into the air toward the far fence. Kevin raced after the ball, jumped, and caught it in his mouth. He raced back to Joseph and dropped the ball, ready for another throw. Joseph played with Kevin and Shasta for a while throwing frisbees, sticks, and bones for them to fetch.

Kevin, Shasta, and Joseph played for hours on end in the summer sun, enjoying each other’s company. And when they had to take a break because of the heat, Joe just sat under the oak tree in the center of the backyard with Shasta and Kevin curled around them, they just napped and napped right until sunset.

Joseph awoke to dimming light of the sun drifting from the west. Oh no... the moon will be out soon I’d better get shasta home so he doesn’t get hurt.  He pat Shasta on the head and said: “Shasta... time to go...”

They both got up, although Kevin still dozed off like a baby. Joe took Shasta home and as he thought, the sun had fully set and the darkness of night was still rising.

Joe had thought earlier, that he wouldn’t be there to watch Kevin go full-on werewolf because it was dangerous because he could die quite easily. But he’s always been there for me. I should help him through this... Although, there was an underlying intent to Joe’s behaviour. If he could get bitten by Kevin during his full stage, he would become just as buff and strong as Kevin was now, if not stronger than that, he believed.

Phase 4: Final transformation
He decided to go back after dropping off Shasta. And as he thought as he returned to the backyard, he could see Kevin cringing under the light of the full moon. Kevin’s head turned toward Joseph and revealed bright yellow eyes. “N-no... Get out... of here... Joe...” He soon started cringing in pain, his arms clutching his chest and his face expanding outward into the typical muzzle of a dog or wolf. The hair that covered his body was now growing all over and his shorts ripped off, although the hair now concealed his privates.

Now, all that was left was a wolf/human hybrid with razor sharp claws, crushing fangs, and dark brown fur. And it was snarling at him. What have I gotten myself into?

Kevin soon charged toward the porch and Joseph with a surprising speed for something of it’s size, then jumped on top of him and looked him in the eyes. Those full, yellow, instinct driven eyes. But then the wolf started panting and barked playfully at him and gave him a doggy kiss on the cheek. But Joe, his escape instincts kicked in and slid underneath Kevin and accidentally stepped on Kevin’s fully grown tail as he got up. “Oh, sorry Kevin.”

His apology was in vain, however, as the werewolf swung around and Joe jumped down the porch stairs and toward the fence to jump it. But just as he turned his head, Kevin had already reached his heels and grabbed them, tripping him. Joe rolled onto his back towards the bushes on the left side of the backyard.  But Kevin had jumped onto his legs and held him in place with one of his furry arms, leaving the other arm free. I guess this is it... But just as the fangs moved in for the kill around his neck, they hit something else. Joe had raised his free arm in defense and Kevin bit that instead.

Joseph held back a scream as Kevin’s fangs dug into his arm. But soon after Kevin just held him there.  Then removed it’s fangs and pulled away.  No! I can’t believe I just did that!  Kevin’s human side had just taken over and rushed upstairs to the washroom and grabbed the bandages, medical tape, and hydrogen peroxide. He started by spreading the peroxide over the bite wound and he could hear it bubbling with his enhanced senses then wrapped the bandage and ripped the remainder of the roll of bandage with his teeth and fastened it with medical tape.
Joe had been unconscious because of the trauma and Kevin said in a deeper voice: “I’m sorry...” He soon carried Joseph over to the couch and he could feel the changes in his body reverting to a similar human state, his legs grew a little shorter and his feet and hands returned to their human state although they were still bigger.

The tail had retreated into his spine just above the butt and the fur patches had disappeared from his body to reveal a 6’6 tall man with hair to his shoulders and a slightly developed goatee. He still had no more need of his glasses and soon walked up to the mirror in the bathroom. Wow... I was happy as I was, but man... Now I’m happy this has happened to me!
Epilogue: One month later. Two days before school starts.

“So...” A deep voiced Joseph said. “How’s things with you and Io?”

Kevin turned around and faced his werewolf friend who was sitting on all fours. He had the same amount of muscle as Kevin did and was his same height. His body was covered in fur and his  Kevin, on the other hand, had a shaggy hairstyle and only stubble after his shave that morning. Kevin had never been one to have long hair.

“Well she was surprised when she saw me... thinking I was somebody else... I finally asked her out and she said yes. This werewolf thing might get in the way though...”

They were out in the forest and the full moon was out. “So Joe, you ready for our first hunt?”

“Hell yeah! I hope we find something like a nice plump deer.”
“Or a sparkly, queer vampire fairy?”
They both shared a laugh after that comment and they both went out into the full moon light. They stashed their clothes in backpacks in the tree behind them and started howling at the moon as their transformations overcame them. The only difference between the two was that Joseph's werewolf form was black and Kevin’s was brown.

They soon dashed into the darkness of the forest and left their camp behind in a flurry of fur and dust.
My first collab with :icontarus101: as a continuation to a story done by another one of his friends started...
